Stir It Up Now Open at Kahala Mall!
Stir It Up Grand Opening Celebration at Kahala Mall Grand Opening September 26, 2015
Boba tea “dessert in a cup” store comes to East Oahu
HONOLULU – A new tea-rrific kiosk just opened at Kahala Mall and it’s been giving shoppers bubbles and bobas of joy! Kahala Mall today announced the opening of its newest merchant, Stir it Up, a unique boba tea shop located between Island Sole and Quiksilver Board Room, which serves the trendiest dessert drinks with the coolest names. Stir It Up will host its grand opening celebration on Saturday, September 26 with drink specials and giveaways. Specials will include “buy one get one free later” from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Customers will get a coupon for a free drink redeemable between Sept. 27 and Oct. 1.
“Many people may be familiar with bubble tea, or boba or pearl tea, drinks,” said Ernie Yagi, who owns and operates Stir it Up with his wife Tasha. “But we’re presenting a product that is more than just a drink, it’s a dessert in a cup. We’ve spent a lot of time trying out new flavors and testing different mixtures in order to come up with a distinctive and quality product that will be a hit with all ages.”
The Stir It Up crew of six mixologists created the 12 specialty concoctions offered on the menu, including the Caramel Craze and the Pomegranate Ernie Palmer. The Caramel Craze is a heavenly intermingling of milk tea, tapioca balls (boba), caramel drizzle and custard, topped off with a sea salt froth. The Pomegranate Ernie Palmer, named after Stir It Up’s co-owner, is a simple but tasty mix of pomegranate lemonade and black tea with mixed jelly.
If none of the 12 specialty desserts whet one’s appetite, Stir It Up also offers an à la carte menu. Customers can pick their tea, flavoring and other dessert ingredients to create a one-of-a-kind blend. Non-tea options such as flavored milk and lemonade are also available for young children. Stir it Up merchandise and novelty items such as cups, tee shirts and hydro flasks also will be available soon for purchase at the kiosk
“One of the things customers notice is our oversized cups,” said Tasha. “We have two sizes, 25 ounces and 32 ounces. They’re wide, easy to carry and come with full-coverage seals for those who are picking up for family members or colleagues.”
“We also wanted to do a lot more than just operate a bubble tea kiosk. We wanted to have a really good and quality product for our customers,” added Ernie. “We started our first small business nearly eight years ago here with Kahala Mall and have always strived to give back to the community. With Stir It Up, we will continue to do this through our partnerships with local outreach programs such as Made in Hope.” The Yagis also own and operate the retail shop Adore in Kahala Mall.
Since soft opening late August, Stir it up has taken Kahala Mall and its shoppers by storm.
“Business has been really good so far,” said Ernie. “The feedback we hear is that everyone is loving our dessert drinks and we can see it with the return of daily customers. We didn’t anticipate how popular Stir It Up would get this quickly, and we are pleased with the results.”
