Kung Hee Fat Choy! The Lunar New Year - also known as Chinese New Year - begins on the new moon, which falls on Feb. 16 but is celebrated for weeks surrounding the date. This celebration honors the past and prepares for a future with fortune. Each year is a zodiac animal according to Chinese astrology and this year we enter the Year of The Dog.
Welcome 2018, by joining us on Sunday, February 11th at 10am in Center Court for an incredible Lunar New Year Celebration.
- 10:00AM - 12PM - Miss Chinatown appearance, Kung Fu Performance, Chinese Lion pole jumping by the amazing Wah Ngai Lion Dance Association, store visitations with lions and Miss Chinatown court to follow!
- 1PM-1:30PM - One of Hawaii's premier Guzheng performers will entertain the audience with beautiful, traditional musical scores from China.
- 1PM - 3PM - Ms. Ina Chang, renown Chinese calligraphy artist in Hawaii will be in Center Court creating (free) custom calligraphy pieces for customers.
- Customers are invited to join in the festivities, free fortune cookies for everyone, plus traditional lai see (red envelopes) will be given to customers to offer the lions.
